Crowthorne Dentist

Vishal Kumar BDS (Lond 1997)(Practice Partner)
GDC 73394

Having been local to Crowthorne for most of my life, I moved to London to study Dentistry at King's College, graduating in 1997. In 2002, I completed the noted Certificate in Restorative Dentistry at the well renowned Eastman Dental Institute. I started working part time in Heathwood Dental Practice in 2003, and in 2005, my wife, Neena, and I commissioned an architect to design new state of the art dental premises, which were built that year. In December 2005, we took over the practice and relocated it to these new premises at Kings Road. Between 2006 and 2007 I completed the Eastman Dental Hospital Certificate in Endodontics. This is advanced training in the field of
root canal treatments, in which I have a special interest. In 2011 I completed the exclusive Ab Initio Continuum course; this has equipped me with cutting edge skills in producing beautiful composite (white) fillings, with a photo-realistic finish. I have received training from some of the world experts in Minimally Invasive Dentistry, and also invested in the equipment necessary for this. Minimally Invasive Dentistry is a passion of mine, and heralds a different approach to treatment, in which we identify factors leading to decay to help reduce the risk; we are also able to treat early decay, sometimes by reversing the damage that has occurred. If it is necessary to treat a cavity, this can often be done without using drills or local anaesthetics; I believe that being able to detect early decay, and stop it in it’s tracks using a minimally interventive approach which does not involve cutting swathes of tooth away, is the nadir of modern dentistry!
Out of work, my time is taken up with my family, my hobbies of computers, reading, scuba diving and photography. A number of my pictures can be seen hanging in the practice!

I graduated from King's College London with Vishal in 1997, and we married in 1999. Since also doing the Certificate in Restorative Dentistry at the Eastman Dental Institute, I have developed an interest in Cosmetic dentistry, and have attended a number of courses by world leaders in this field. I have a special interest in Oral surgery and Implantology, and my year long training on a specialist implant training course has granted me a well developed skill set with which I can help our practice patients if they miss their missing teeth. I am at the practice every day from Tuesday to Friday. I am always happy to take care of our nervous patients or discuss cosmetic dental enquiries at any appointment. Vishal and I have a daughter and a son. Outside work, I enjoy cooking, gardening and shopping!

Kavit Kotecha BDS (U.Birm 2012), MJDF, RCS (Eng) (Practice Colleague)

GDC 228926

I graduated from the University of Birmingham and have worked in Kingston hospital as a Senior House Officer in Maxillofacial surgery as well as in general practice. My experience has allowed me to carry out more complex treatments, including placing dental implants. I enjoy seeing a whole range of patients and find it truly rewarding looking after whole families.
Aside from dentistry I am married to my beautiful wife, Aleena. We met on the very first day at University, love at first sight! She is a solicitor and works in the city, but with all the time spent with me talking teeth, she's really an honorary dentist!
My hobbies include travelling, reading, squash and going to the gym regularly. Being a bit of a fitness freak, I'm known to go to the gym at 6am before work on most days!
I look forward to meeting you soon.

Pauline Hampton

Pauline Hampton (Dental Hygienist)

I qualified as a dental nurse in 1977 and then as a hygienist in 1979. I gained a Diploma in Dental Health Education in 1983 and in the same year joined Heathwood Dental Practice. My role as a hygienist has changed and grown over the years – from working part-time to fit in with my husband and two daughters, to gaining additional training to keep abreast of new ideas, materials and procedures.
I have really enjoyed being a member of the Heathwood Dental team for the last 30 years and hope this continues for many years to come. I love meeting and working with people – it’s the best part of the job.

Jane Golightly

Jane Golightly (Dental Hygienist)

Jane trained to become a dental hygienist at King’s College Dental Hospital, qualifying in 1993. She stayed on at King’s as a staff hygienist, treating many patients with dental phobias and tutoring dental students. She combined this with working in several private practices in London. Following a years career break during which she went travelling around Australia, Jane returned to work for a leading implant and cosmetic dentist in Windsor, gaining invaluable experience in the field of implant care. This experience now benefits our patients at Heathwood!

Helen Smith
(Practice Manager and Qualified Dental Nurse)

I have been a dental nurse for 18 years and qualified in 1992. After a career break to bring up my 2 sons, I joined Heathwood Dental Practice. I am now an integral member of the team in my multiple capacities as Practice Manager, Receptionist and Dental Nurse. I have been with the practice since August 2006.

Pam Dodd

Pamela Dodd (Receptionist)

I joined Heathwood Dental Practice in 1997 as a Receptionist, having previously worked as a medical secretary in a Doctor’s surgery and hospital. Being the first person every patient meets when they come through the door, my working attitude is based around providing a friendly and relaxed environment as well as being professional.

Zoë Pickett (Dental Nurse and Practice Decontamination Lead)

I am a qualified dental nurse and have been with the practice for many years. I enjoy working with an excellent team which makes my job that much more enjoyable. I have two daughters, and live locally in Crowthorne.

Miriska Lindholm
(Dental Nurse)

I have been working as a Dental Nurse since 1997, and still genuinely enjoy it. I came from South Africa in 1999 and passed the British NEBDN exam in 2000. I have worked here since 2002, and it really feels like being part of a big family. I am supported and encouraged to attend regular courses to update and enhance my Dental nurses skills. Being able to work part-time is a bonus, as I then have time to spend with my son. I find working and living in Crowthorne a real pleasure.
